The Virginia Sports Turf Managers Association (VSFMA) welcomed 125 attendees to its annual Field Day event on June 9. The Field Day was hosted by VSFMA Board Member, Matt Austin, and his team at the Warhill Sports Complex in James City County, Va. Attendees participated in educational sessions regarding Sprayer Calibration, Drift Management, and Pesticide Application Best Practices, Cloud-based Irrigation Management, Synthetic Turf Maintenance and Safety, and Weed Identification and Control options for Sports Turf. These educational sessions were presented by members of the Virginia Tech Turf Team, as well as representatives from two event sponsors <dash> FieldTurf and Smith Turf & Irrigation. To highlight more than 13 years of dedicated service as the Executive Director to the VSFMA, Whitnee Askew was recognized and presented with an award to reflect the board and association’s great appreciation of all of her support.
