University of Oklahoma – Athletics Field Management – Landscape & Grounds Technician I

Become a member of the University of Oklahoma Athletic Field Management Team. Applicants are encouraged to apply for the Construction Craftsperson II position (job requisition #180859). Facilities include Owen Field at the Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, L. Dale Mitchell Park, Marita Hynes Field, John Jacobs Track and Field, Soccer Stadium and Complex and Lloyd Noble Center.

Qualifications include: mowing; operating mowing equipment; applying water and fertilizer; raking leaves; picking up trash; laying sod; operating power equipment such as edgers, blowers, weed-eaters; painting; able to work long hours and weekends and some holidays. Experience with bermudagrass, overseeding ryegrass and transition. Operation of heavy equipment such as tractors. Frequent exposure (16% to 50%) to physical and/or mental stress or discomfort. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions including in the heat and cold. Ability to stand including standing for short or extended time periods. Ability to walk including moving by foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for extended periods of time or over a long distance. High School diploma or GED OR an equivalent combination of education/job related experience. 9 months landscape equipment operation experience. Valid driver’s license required.

Qualifications preferred: 2 or 4 years turfgrass management, soil science or related degree preferred. Two years’ experience preferred. Experience working on football, soccer, baseball, softball and track athletic fields. Experience in working outdoor athletic and non-athletic events. Pay rate: $10-14/hour.
