Turf Management Internship: Mercedes Benz Stadium

This internship provides compensation and the opportunity to learn the techniques and management skills necessary for maintaining unique playing surfaces for a professional football team. From May through September/October, or whenever student returns to school in Fall. Intern can expect to work up to 32 hours per work week, including weekends and evenings.

Interested candidates should:

  • Have a general knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and practices utilized in turf & sports field management
  • Have experience or familiarity with the operation of turf & sports field management equipment
  • Be able to work independently or in a team environment
  • Be able to take direction from members of the Mercedes Benz Stadium Field & Grounds department on a routine basis
  • Be required to regularly lift and/or move 50+ pounds, sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, kneel, and crawl.
  • Be exposed to outdoor weather conditions which can include temperature and humidity extremes.
  • Be subjected to moderate to loud noise levels and occasional chemical exposure
  • Arrange their own transportation and living accommodations
  • Provide letters of recommendation from a current or past employer and/or an academic advisor
  • Possess a professional and ambitious attitude towards learning and working in turf management

About Field & Grounds at Mercedes Benz Stadium:

Mercedes Benz Stadium is in the heart of Atlanta. The Field & Grounds department maintains the 40-acre property including the stadium synthetic surface (FieldTurf’s Revolution 360) and the Home Depot Backyard (4.5acres of sand-based TifTuf Bermudagrass). Mercedes Benz Stadium and The Home Depot Backyard are home to the Atlanta Falcons, the 2018 MLS Cup Champions Atlanta United, the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, the SEC Championship Game, the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl and the 2020 NCAA Final Four. Mercedes Benz Stadium and The Home Depot Backyard also play host to several additional events and concerts throughout the year.
