Cleveland Browns/Pioneer Athletics – Seasonal Internship

The Cleveland Browns and Pioneer Athletics are seeking a highly motivated individual for the upcoming 2019 Season. This Internship offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to work closely with the team’s field staff and with corporate personnel in Research and Development projects.  You will gain hands-on experience in the exciting and fast-paced environment of a professional football team and participate in R&D project development.  Applicants must have coursework toward college or graduate degree in Turf Grass Management or related field and currently enrolled or recently graduated from a 2 or 4-year university turf program. Applicants are expected to work well with a group in an environment that can include long hours. This is a paid internship starting in May and lasting through August. College students finishing school in May are encouraged to apply as well. Start and end dates are flexible based on availability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a professional NFL stadium field, and landscape including mowing, painting, fertilizing and cultivating activities.
  • Maintain the sports field at a Research Facility located nearby
  • Participate in research and development projects with a research company
  • Work and learn about a variety of grass types including synthetic and natural grasses such as Bermuda, Rye, Tall Fescue and Kentucky Bluegrass
  • Sod work, fertilization and pest management
  • Repair and maintain the field when team is away
  • Basic maintenance and care of landscaping equipment

Requirements as follows:

  • Coursework toward college or graduate degree in Turf Grass Management or related field
  • Available to work minimum of 40 hrs. per week, weekends and holidays
  • Requires extensive physical labor in all weather conditions, including weekends and some holidays
  • Ability to operate necessary equipment related to grounds and landscape maintenance
  • Ability to push/pull/lift/move 50+ pounds and be exposed to temperature extremes
  • Provide own housing and transportation; small housing allowance may be offered
  • Other duties as assigned by the staff of the Cleveland Browns and Pioneer Athletics.

Compensation:

Candidate will be paid $12/hour with time and a half paid after 40 hours. Candidate is expected to work a minimum of 40 hours/week.
