Assistant Groundskeeper/Operations Manager

The Scranton Wilkes Barre Railriders are the Triple A affiliate of the New York Yankees.  We are located in the northeast corner of the state of Pennsylvania.  I am proud to announce that we are actively looking to fill the full time/ benefits included position of Assisatant Groundskeeper/Operations Manager.

The positions primary task will be to assist the Head Groundskeeper being responsible for repairing  and maintaining the PNC Field playing surface and the surrounding grounds around the stadium.  The  assistant will be expected to be prepared to lead , mentor, and train interns and summer helpers.  Must be ready and willing to work long hours and weekends while providing a professional , first class  playing surface for the New York Yankees prospects.  The assistant will also be called on when hosting various extra events that are on field when the team is on the road.

The Assistant Groundskeeper will be essential in all aspects of maintaining the playing surface, including mowing,edging,fertilizing,aerating,topdressing,over seeding, discovery and control of weeds, insects and disease.  The assistant must be proficient when working with clays for infield skin and pitchers mound maintenance.

The assistant must be able to operate and maintain all equipment in a safe manner and keep it in excellent working order.

The Assistant Groundskeeper must work closely with the assistant coaches in the preparation of the playing field for all pre game practices by setting up batting cage, screens and protective covers in a timely professional manner.

The Assistant Groundskeeper will be responsible for the maintenance and care of the outside grounds including shrubs, trees and flower beds on the property.

The Assistant Groundskeeper must maintain a positive relationship with all players, coaches, grounds crew and front office staff.

Once the season is over the assistant will work closely with the Director of Facilities with duties that may include, but are not limited to , HVAC, painting, carpentry,plumbing, preventative maintenance, snow removal,and set up and break down of the club areas.

Other duties may be assigned.
