Position: Sports Turf Technician II

Reports to: Coordinator of Field Operations

Department: Baseball Operations

Status: Hourly Non-Exempt

Position Summary: Sport Turf Technician II is responsible for maintaining playing fields, pitching mounds, infield surfaces, batting cages, and common areas at the San Francisco Giants Baseball Complex at Papago.

Position Responsibilities:
 Prepare and maintain playing surfaces to meet MLB standards.

 Maintain common areas and landscape to a standards consistent with a professional sports facility.

 Report field issues such as turf stress, disease, irrigation problems, etc.

 Ability to work collaboratively and/or independently on tasks as assigned.

 Safe and competent operation of a wide variety of turf related equipment and hand tools.

 Game day set up and break down.

 Batting Practice set up and break down.

 Skilled in technical areas of field maintenance:  Safe equipment operation, fertilization, mound/plate/infield skin maintenance.

 Monitor and report irrigation issues, problems and/or concerns.

 Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

 2 years minimum field maintenance experience at a baseball/athletic facility.

 Valid Arizona Driver License.

 Ability to develop effective and collaborative working relationship.

 Ability to work extended hours during spring training. Nights, weekends and holidays as required.

 Good health with the ability to lift up to 75 pounds.

 Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time and work in extreme heat and or harsh conditions.

 Must have or obtain Arizona Pesticide Applicators license within 6 months of hire date.
