Assistant Groundskeeper

The San Antonio Missions Baseball Club is seeking qualified applicants to fill an open Assistant Groundskeeper position. The San Antonio Missions are the newest addition to the AAA Pacific Coast League, after operating as a founding member of the AA Texas League since 1888. This position assists the Head Groundskeeper in field preparation and maintenance for all Missions games, high school games, college games and occasional concerts/events. As compensation the Missions offer competitive wages, excellent health care and 401K benefits. This is a full time, year-round position, with a flexible start date.


  • Assist with daily routine maintenance of the playing surface at Nelson Wolff Stadium
  • Perform clay repairs on game mound, home plate, and bullpen mounds
  • Mowing and edging of playing surface on a regular basis.
  • Prepare and maintain infield skin and warning track areas.
  • Set up and tear down of equipment and protective covering for early work, batting practice, ect
  • Painting of team logos and other specialty logos as needed.
  • Assist with regularly scheduled fertilizer applications, aeration,topdressing, and verti-cutting.
  • Execute irrigation management schedule and repairs to irrigation system.
  • Assist with training and communication of duties to grounds game day staff members.
  • Manage payroll and scheduling for game day staff members.


  • It is preferred that applicants have recently completed a 2 or 4 year turf degree program.
  • It is required that applicants have completed an Internship in either Major or Minor league baseball.
  • Strong attention to detail is required to be successful at this position
