Description
The Hoover Met Stadium is the former home of the Birmingham Barons. The stadium is currently the home of the Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament as well as East Coast Pro and Hoover High School football. The Hoover Met Complex houses 5 full-sized baseball fields. Four of the fields are artificial turf and the remaining field is natural grass. Both the stadium and complex field are TifTuf bermudagrass. Both fields host various high school and college level events throughout the year.

Purpose of Job
Assist the Head Groundskeeper by being responsible for repairing and maintaining safe playing surfaces and its surrounding components for two natural surface baseball fields by performing daily turf, dirt and water management; timely fertility and cultural practices; game preparation techniques and short and long-term maintenance planning.

Essential Job Duties

⦁ Properly manages and maintains turf on all athletic fields within the Hoover Met Stadium and Complex grounds.
⦁ Mows, trims, edges, fertilizes, sods, aerates, and irrigates turf using commercial grade equipment.
⦁ Maintain and repair irrigation systems on athletic fields. Assist in controlling the entire irrigation system that includes, but is not limited to, proper water management of the playing surface and outside landscape, periodic maintenance checks, and repair of leaking lines or valves.
⦁ Paints outfield foul lines, numbers, and logos on all athletic fields.
⦁ Performs general maintenance as necessary to keep machinery in working order.
⦁ Drags, rakes, conditions, and replenishes materials as needed to maintain infields.
⦁ Responsible for coordination and execution of infield tarps on daily basis and during tournaments

Job Requirements
Education and Experience: The required knowledge, skill, and abilities to satisfactorily perform job duties are normally acquired through obtaining an associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; zero to two years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in turfgrass management.

Required Certifications/Licenses:
Valid Drivers License
