We are the leader in offering recreation services and facilities in the Community.  The District operates highly utilized facilities including a health and fitness center, activity center, indoor ice arena, driving range, batting cages, a nature center, three multi-purpose programming facilities, outdoor pools and a splash pad.  We facilitate over 1,000 programs annually, serving all ages.

Description: Our District has an opening for Full-time Park Maintenance staff member to assist in the physical maintenance of the district’s buildings and grounds. Duties include general turf maintenance; including operating heavy equipment, applying pesticides, applying fertilizer, irrigation repairs, general park and facility maintenance using various tools and physical labor. Duties also involve contact with the general public and Park District staff, a pleasant demeanor and good judgment must be exercised in dealing with a broad variety of assignments. Position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 73.

Qualifications: Turf maintenance experience is necessary. Must have a good understanding of the English language and be able to communicate well with patrons and staff. Selected candidate needs to be a minimum of 18 years of age in order to operate power equipment and the ability to regularly lift objects up to 50 pounds. Due to the lifting requirement, selected individuals will be required to take a post-offer back assessment/lift test.

Education: High school diploma (or equivalent)

Availability: Five days per week, generally Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Due to the nature of this position it is sometimes necessary to amend work hours to include overtime, weekends, early mornings and late evenings.
