NCFC YOUTH
NCFC Youth provides soccer opportunities to players of all ages and skill levels and is home to more than 13,500 players and their families. Established in 1974, our non-profit organization, in collaboration with the professional North Carolina Football Club, is the largest youth-to-professional soccer club in country.  Frequently recognized as an innovative leader in full-service soccer programming, our mission is to provide positive, high quality soccer opportunities at all levels of play for youth and their families and to serve as a valuable community partner.

Fields are one of the most critical factors in NCFC Youth’s success. Through our operations that span across the Raleigh, Cary, Wake Forest, Holly Springs, Durham, Chapel Hill and surrounding communities, we either own, rent, or lease more than 120 fields to host practices, games, and tournaments. The Athletic Field Superintendent is an integral piece to the success of our organization by managing a team of field technician staff and working with club leadership on the long-term strategy for field maintenance and planning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Under minimal supervision, this person performs a wide variety of skilled duties related to maintenance and upkeep of NCFC Fields, equipment and property. The Athletic Field Superintendent is directly responsible for the operational aspects and safety of all 120+ fields we utilize for games and training and will be responsible for managing and working alongside a staff of 4 to achieve goals and carry out the additional responsibilities outlined below.

This person will be responsible for:

  • Supervising the daily work performed by the facility field technician staff
  • Assisting in the organization, planning, and execution of the field (natural grass and synthetic turf) maintenance strategy
  • Interpreting and training staff on safety policies and procedures, including ensuring the accuracy and daily use of the automated work order system
  • Ensuring the equipment used in the maintenance of the fields is properly maintained and maintain accurate maintenance/safety logs for said equipment
  • Maintaining turf grass by mowing, decompactions, fertilizing, de-thatching, top dressing, and other chemical applications
  • Utilizing robots as well as other painters to paint fields for games and or events
  • Inspecting fields and apply chemicals as required
  • Monitoring, reporting and resolving field issues such as turf stress, disease, irrigation problems, etc.
  • Maintaining common Areas by mulching, planting new vegetation as well as transplanting
  • Maintaining accurate log for fertilizer/chemical applications
  • Tracking inventory and monitor purchasing of fertilizers and field materials
  • Performing duties as assigned to ensure the success of any events hosted by NCFC Youth or at NCFC Youth operated fields

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidates must have graduated from a 2 or 4-year turf management or horticultural program. Sports Turf-related experience may be considered in lieu. 5 years experience is preferred.
  • Self-motivated, takes pride in the quality of your work, strong work ethic, possess a desire to learn and grow as an individual
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License
  • Able to adhere to OSHA safety requirements and standards
  • Obtain a North Carolina pesticide license upon being hired
