Full Time Spring Training Groundscrew (Groundskeeper II)

The Groundskeeper II at the Goodyear Ballpark cares for and maintains the spring training baseball facilities, right-of-ways, medians, and other public grounds.

  • Maintains and repairs the baseball facilities including mound and home plate, skin work, bullpens, warning tracks and batting practice set-up and tear down.
  • Maintains the turf by mowing, edging, fertilizing, applying pesticide and weed control, irrigating, verti-cutting, aerating, sod work, and over-seeding.
  • Develop and execute plans for field repair.
  • Provides general clean-up of grounds and facilities including restrooms, dugouts, concourses, parking lots, irrigation pond and all open use areas.
  • Maintains outside landscape of turf, trees, shrubs, gravel, irrigation, walk ways and parking lots.
  • Assists with all non-baseball event set-up/break down and coordination.
  • Demonstrates and applies working knowledge of maintaining fields to Major League Baseball standards. This includes but not limited to maintaining the following: proper mound height and repair, level infield surface, mow heights of the grass batter’s box repair and fertility program.
  • Ensure safe working conditions and implement safety policies, and as appropriate, personnel policies in the daily work setting.
  • Assumes the duties and responsibilities of the Ballpark Foreman as assigned during his/her absence.

The ideal candidate for the Groundskeeper II will have previous experience in a professional level baseball setting (college level or above) as well as knowledge in irrigation systems. The ideal candidate for this position will also have the ability to thrive in a high work volume environment, be flexible with work shift and times and the ability to lead others.
