Denver Parks & Recreation has more than 100 athletic fields and 240+ athletic spaces that are available for a variety of uses including lacrosse, rugby, tennis, baseball, softball, soccer, football, ultimate frisbee, kickball and more. These athletic fields are an integral part of providing important programs to Denver’s communities.

Denver’s Parks & Recreation has an opportunity for an Athletic Field Maintenance Technician to support operations for Denver’s public spaces. This full-time position can provide job stability, including, but not limited to, the following opportunities:

The Athletic Field Maintenance Technician are responsible for ensuring that athletic fields are in top quality condition, allowing competitive sports programming as well as casual enjoyment of these spaces possible. Additionally, this position will:
• Prepare the fields which will include dragging the infield, chalking the field according to specified dimensions, watering infield, and setting bases.
• Field maintenance will include filling infield holes, adding clay to infield when necessary and inspecting the ball fields for proper safety.
• Perform fence repair and minor welding repairs as needed
• Utilize independent judgment in performing grounds maintenance activities.
• Understand and follow oral and written directions.
• Be responsible for making sure all athletic fields stays in optimal playing condition.
• Ensure proper drainage or shoring up spots on the grass where there is uneven wear and tear.
• Attention to detail is a responsibility of this role
• This job is physically demanding. Our Athletic Field Maintenance Technician will be required to do repetitive tasks such as bending, lifting and shoveling. Good physical fitness is important to completing these tasks in a satisfactory manner.
• Snow removal duties as needed.
• Perform other duties as requested or required.

Typical Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 6am-2:30pm

This position requires availability and willingness to work weekends and holidays occasionally, (based on athletic event schedules)

We are looking for a reliable, career oriented professional with a combination of or all of the following:
• Knowledge of athletic activities and maintenance/ repair of athletic fields
• Knowledge of landscaping maintenance
• Licensure or Certification in Turf Management
• Basic knowledge of use of mobile devices, such as iPads and iPhones
• Experience using a painter
• Ability to obtain a CDL B within 6 months of employment

• Graduation from high school, or possession of a GED Certificate.
• Two years of experience as a skilled trades helper or semi-skilled laborer performing a variety of duties requiring construction, mechanical and building maintenance skills
• Additional appropriate education may be substituted for one year of the minimum experience requirement.
• Requires a valid driver’s license at time of application, requires a valid Colorado Class “R” Driver’s License by the end of probation. By position, requires a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with appropriate endorsements prior to the end of the probationary period.

Classification Title: We call this job a Athletic Field Maintenance Technician. The official job classification title is Maintenance Technician.
Hiring Range: $17.02- $18.98 Hourly
Assessments / Testing: This position does not require testing.
