Buffalo Bisons Assistant Groundskeeper

Positions: Seasonal Assistant Groundskeeper for the 2020 baseball season.

Starting in March of 2020 through September 2020 (dates are very flexible)

Supervisor: Danny Keene, Head Groundskeeper

The Buffalo Bisons are the Triple-A Affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays.  They play at Sahlen Field, located in downtown Buffalo.  The playing surface is a sand-based, Kentucky Bluegrass system that was fully reconstructed after the 2010 season.

Sahlen Field plays host to 70 Bisons games as well as numerous other high school baseball games.  It also hosts the Taste of Country concert in June, The Buffalo Wing Festival in September and many other exciting events.

Job Description:

The assistant groundskeeper assists the head groundkeeper in maintaining a professional baseball field to major league standards.  Duties include infield maintenance, edging, mound/plate repair, batting practice setup/teardown, and pre/post game maintenance.  The assistant groundskeeper will manage the field for non-Bisons related baseball games and assist in managing the gameday crew.

Requirements:

  • Previous sports turf management experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to Lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be willing and able to work extended hours, including nights,weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be highly motivated and able to respond well under pressure.
  • Able to maintain a professional attitude and appearance.
