Student Challenge

2015 STMA Student Challenge

The STMA Student Challenge is presented in partnership with the SAFE Foundation, Founding Partner Hunter Industries, and new sponsor Ewing.  Each year students from 2-year and 4-year colleges and universities across the country compete in an exam that challenges knowledge in the sports turf industry.  The winning teams receive a cash award, a plaque, and medallions for each team member.  The prize money benefits the institution’s turf program and creates opportunities for students pursuing a career in sports turf management.

STMA Student Update:

The 2015 STMA Student Collegiate Challenge Study Guide is now available!  Be sure to thoroughly read the updated study guide for information on rules, exam preparation, and new topics.  Access the study guide HERE.

The 2015 STMA Student Collegiate Challenge has changed times! The exam, held during our conference in Denver, will now be taking place on Thursday, January 15 from 2 - 4:30 pm. Represent your collegiate turfgrass program and come prepared to test your knowledge in sports turf management. The exam will consist of multiple choice, short answer, and hands-on/identification sections. Online team registration will open on October 1, 2014. Competitors receive complimentary conference registration. The STMA Student Collegiate Challenge is sponsored by the SAFE Foundation, Hunter and Ewing. Please contact Kristen Althouse at kalthouse@stma.org with any questions.

At the SAFE Foundation, we are proud that we have the opportunity to supply scholarships to those aspiring to be in the field. We believe that the SAFE Scholarship has an easy application process, and we wanted to make it even easier! Apply today with this document!
