Water Advocacy Benefits Members

In late 2014, STMA joined the Waters Advocacy Coalition with other industry organizations to contribute comments to the US EPA and US Army Corp of Engineers proposed rule to define waters of the US under the Clean Water Act. The coalition had numerous concerns with the rule as did STMA, and we supported the more than 85 pages of comments. This is important to members on three fronts: 1) Helps to protect the your facilities and your work from restrictive regulation; 2) Brings STMA into the national spotlight, joining with more than 60 other high-profile organizations commenting; and 3) Moves STMA into its first experience with formal lobbying efforts on members behalf.

The U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works will hold a joint hearing on Wed., Feb. 4 to examine the impacts on state and local governments of this proposed rule. STMA will continue to monitor this issue and provide updates as it advances.
