Types of Memberships
STMA Members represent various geographic locations. Our Turf Managers maintain sports fields for all levels of competition and a wide variety of sports. Still they all come together for one purpose - to promote safer playing surfaces for all levels of play. STMA Turf Managers are grouped to provide maximum networking based on the type of field under management. These Turf Manager groupings are identified below. A link is provided to comments from the Board of Director's member who represents a membership type.

Commercial members enhance the STMA experience by providing insight to the latest materials and equipment of the trade. They are vital to the STMA mission and have played a crucial role in STMA's development. They are in a class of their own!! (Commercial member dues are $295).

Commercial Associate members are addional members from the same company as a Commercial member. The dues for the Commercial Associate category are $75. (You may have as many Commercial Assocaite members as you would like, but there must be a Commercial member before you can sign up in the Commercial Associate category).

Commercial membership can be broken down into three areas of distinction that would mainly be determined by what is the main function of the company. These are a few examples:
  1. Manufacturers

    • The Toro Compan
    • John Deere
    • Hunter Industries
    • Covermaster
  2. Sales & Suppliers

    • Seed Companies
    • Paint Suppliers
    • Fertilizer Companies
    • Chemical Suppliers
  3. Service Groups, Consultants, etc.

    • Sodexho
    • Consulting firms
    • Davey Sports Turf

All of these areas would fall under the current Commercial Membership category. The breakdown is not to differentiate them in record-keeping or invoicing, but to help direct them as to where they "fit."

Individuals that work 30 or more hours on day-to-day field maintenance shall be considered as a Professional (Sports Turf Manager) member and pay the appropriate dues ($110) selecting the type of facility(ies) which constitutes their major area of concentration.

STMA has a new category: Sports Turf Manager Associate . The Sports Turf Manager Associate category is for addional members from the same facility as a Sports Turf Manager member. The dues for the Sports Turf Manager Associate category are $75 and you must list your Primary Sports Turf Manager Member when you sign up for this category. (The Sports Turf Manager Associate membership still receives all of the same benefits that the Sports Turf Manager member gets, just with a discount for multiple members from the same facility).

Sports Turf Manager Members Representing:

Another new category is the Affiliate Category (this includes coaches, athletic directors, administrators, owners, trainers, equipment managers, volunteers, etc.). The Affiliate Category is for a person who is indirectly or on a part-time basis, involved in the mainatenance/management of sports fields, and upon payment of dues and being accepted for membership, may become a non-voting member of STMA and is not eligible to hold elective office. (dues are $50 for Affiliate members).

Student membership (w/valid ID) (non-voting) (dues are $25 for students)
